Student Life

The ESPOL campus offers privileged conditions with a great diversity of plant and animal species. This allows having a battery of honeycombs (Apis melífera) for the production of honey and derivatives, generated from the nectar of the flowers of the Prosperina Protected Forest. The students of the Agricultural and Biological Engineering program are involved in the activities of cultivation, maintenance and harvest of honey, allowing them to live the experience of beekeeping production. 

Comprehensive care services aim to carry out strategic interventions in vulnerable populations through the application of useful tools to apply the nutritional care process efficiently, allowing them to develop skills and abilities applied in addressing health problems from a comprehensive perspective in any stage of the life cycle such as: child nutrition, pregnancy and breastfeeding, nutrition in the elderly, approach to healthy patients and those with associated pathologies.

By having a practical component of daytime and nighttime field trips, we put into practice concepts and methodology on fauna and vegetation that we have in our Prosperina Protected Forest (BPP). Activities such as the capture and recapture of flying insects with sustainable and regular traps are necessary to reinforce issues of taxonomy, diversity, population and the role they play as indicators of the effects of climate change.

In the food sector, students have the opportunity to develop abilities and skills based on participation and nutritional advice in areas such as: food services in public and private health centers, educational centers and food industries. During these activities, students participate in the development of activities such as: formulation and design of new products, ensuring nutritional quality, administration and management of a nutrition and food service, applying the essential tools to offer an adequate service, nutritional education, among others.
